Disturbing new statistics have been released about the dangers of older model four-wheel drives with crash tests showing they are very prone to rolling.

Monash University tests on four-wheel-drives more than 10 years old confirm the danger which experts say is because the vehicles don't have electronic stability control.

Motor Industry Association chief executive Perry Kerr says if people are planning to buy a four wheel drive they should get a model built after 2001.

He says studies have shown the newer vehicles are 60% less likely to be in a crash.

Kerr also wants to see age restrictions on used imported four-wheel-drive vehicles.

OK REMEMBER ONE THING,WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE VEHICLE? IF IT'S ROLLING ARE YOU A CAPIBLE DRIVER? WHEN YOU ROLLED WERE YOU BEING SMART OR A SMART ASS? AND LAST THERE IS A REASON THAT WE BUY OLDER VEHICLES,THEY HAD LESS BULLSHIT ADDED TO THEM...YOU KNOW CONTROLING FETURES... I'LL PUT MY OLD 92 PICK-UP AGAINST AN 08 ANY DAY OF THE WEEK...THESE NEW TRUCKS COST AS MUCH AS A HOUSE AND THEY AREN'T WORTH SHIT WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT DURABILITY...THE TROUBLE IS PEOPLE BEING GIVING EVERYTHING AND THINKING THEIR TIN CAN IS TOUGH AS STEEL... THANKS,MUDD

Wow good thing they spent a bunch of money to state the obvious we didnt have electronic stability control back then nor did we have run flat tires or cockpit air bags so it's obvious a new car is safer
