pull the trans pan and look for metal in the pan, if there is metal in the pan then i would pretty much say your tourqe converter is shot, and needs to be replaced

Could be a issue with your 3-4 shift valve in the valve body. Does it slip in over drive or just stay in 3rd?

very well could be 1 of 2 things, could be a tourqe coneverter and or a valve body and or both,

Could have just burned out overdrive too! If its not slipping or slamming into gears its probably not valve body or torque convertor related.
