Hesco Stroked & Performance Engines

Hesco has been stroking the AMC and Jeep six cylinder engines for over thirty years. We hold many world speed records at tracks like Talledega Speedway and Daytona. We were the supplier of championship racing engines for the Jeep factory off-road race teams of Larry Maddox, Mike Leslie, Don-A-Vee Jeep, and racing icon Don Adams. On the asphalt tracks, the Archer Brother’s Racing teams enjoyed many championships in the Jeep Truck and Eagle Talon racing series. In SCCA and drag racing, Hesco powered racers have enjoyed dominance.
The stroker kits produced for the power hungry public provide a variety of advantages
as an everyday driver and off-road power plant. Horsepower and torque numbers vary by engine year due to different intake manifolds and cylinder head designs. The purpose of stroking any engine is to move the torque curve where it is more usable for their specific application.
Spec’s by year: stroked engines (figures are conservative)
1987-90 4.0 stroked engines: 240hp/280ft.lbs.
1991-06 4.0 stroked w/cast iron head engines: 245hp/288ft.lbs.
1991-06 4.0 stroked w/aluminum head engines: 260/305ft.lbs.
1991-06 4.0 performance engines with aluminum head: 210hp/255ft. lbs.
All the engines were dyno tested with proper injectors, big bore throttle bodies, headers, cat-back exhaust systems, hi-flow cats, and free flowing air filter systems.
Parts included in our stroked engines.
Stroker crankshaft-deburred, and balanced.
Custom forged pistons with ceramic coated domes and moly treated skirts
Total Seal moly piston rings
Connecting rods-matched set (deburred and shot peened. ARP bolts installed)
Hesco camshaft, lifters, and valve springs & retainers
True roller timing set
Clevite 77 rod, cam and main bearings
Melling push rods, oil pump, and rocker arms (blue printed pump)
New harmonic balancer
Mopar, Victor and Felpro gaskets used in assembly
New oil pan, valve cover and timing cover
Roller rocker arms are offered as an option
All engines are complete except for bolt on accessories.

Larger fuel injectors are a must when stroking an engine to prevent a lean condition. Another worthwhile addition is our adjustable fuel pressure regulator for the 1987-95 engines. Later models have the regulator built in the fuel tank sending unit and maintain a constant pressure making an adjustable regulator unnecessary. Stroked, super charged engines will require the stock in tank fuel pump be replaced with our higher pressure/volume fuel pump.
Engine Prices:
All years forged piston stroked engines with the cast iron CNC cylinder head- $5980.00
All year’s forged piston stroked engines with the aluminum cylinder head- $6980.00
Performance built 4.0L engines with CNC cylinder head- $4495.00
Performance built 4.0L engines with the aluminum cylinder head-$5495.00
4.2L performance engine with a CNC 4.0L cylinder head- $4895.00
4.2L performance engine with the aluminum cylinder head- $5495.00
All of our engines are ran on our engine dyno to insure proper break in and as part of our quality
control to insure the engine is producing the power it is designed to. There is a dyno, fuel and engine crate charge. Freight charges vary with location.

do theyseen to have quality parts

I would call them and ask them the manufacturer of the parts, and if they machine them all in house or do they send them out to be machined, also ask what the degree on the hone they try to get and if it's machine honed or done by hand. I'd also inquire about the bearings they use and the rings, and if they are undersized bearings to make up for the machining process. For $5000 that should be a completed assembled long block, broken in, dyno tested, and packed in machine oil or break in oil for anti corrosion purposes. When you get it in, steam clean, and engine laquor should be applied. You should basically kill them with questions.
